Roger's Birthday in January 2009

Click on picture to make larger.This Nanablog has a mind of its own, and the pictures seem to arrange themselves in some sort of blog order, no matter what order I enter them. 
The pictures were all taken at Roger's birthday celebration.  You will see pictures of the boys making birthday cards and birthday banners.  They spent some time together with Pokemon cards, DS,and playing Wii.  You can see them all huddled together under the kitchen table with one DS.  Look carefully to see Sam, too.  We all enjoyed going out to dinner together.  After dinner, the boys helped Roger blow out his candles.  Then all enjoyed watching Roger open his presents and eating cake and ice cream.

December 29 2008 dinner with Aberdeen Friends

We finished out 2008 with a gathering of friends from Aberdeen, some still working on post, some working off post, and some retired.  The date was also Paul Deitz' birthday---so Wendy brought TWO cakes and we celebrated with dessert.

Christmas Eve, Christmas, 2008

We traveled to Gburg for Christmas Eve and returned home the same evening to get ready for guests on Christmas Day.  J and H sang in the Children's choir on Christmas Eve, and all three boys had a part in the Christmas Eve children's program.  The boys gave their mom a present from the four Nelson men/boys.

On Christmas Day, all five boys and parents, as well as Harriet and Jay arrived about noon. Santa visited again on Christmas Day.  After dinner and package opening, the boys played with their new gifts.  In the evening, we celebrated #8 birthday for Jacob (where has the time gone!)

Pre-Christmas Weekend with Five Grandsons, Dec 19-21, 2008

On the Friday before Christmas, Roger drove to Gettysburg on Saturday and picked up all five boys. We had a busy week-end making and decorating cookies, finishing up crafts for parents (ornaments and birdhouses), playing computer games, traveling to the planetarium and the downtown train exhibit.  The boys seemed to have a lot of fun together, as did we. Excuse double picture of Ben---can't delete!

Thanksgiving week-end, November 2008

We had Thanksgiving dinner here with Jay and Harriet, Kristen and the boys, and Burnell and Dorothy.  Roger started some Christmas crafts with the Gburg boys (continued in mid-December with all five boys).  On the day after T-giving, we all gathered in G-burg.  The adults played Mexican Dominoes (the Country Club is in foreclosure), while the kids played video games (for part of the time).

Adrienne and Karen: visit with Colaneris and Susan's church, Oct-Nov 2008

On October 30, Roger and I took Adrienne and Karen to Millburn NJ to visit Susan and Joe. Susan and Joe prepared a great dinner to celebrate Artie's birthday.  On November 2, we worshipped at Susan's church in Maywood NJ before taking Adrienne and Karen to Newark airport for their flight home.

Adrienne's Birthday Celebration: 25 - 26 October 2008

All five grandsons with parents came to our home to visit Aunt Adrienne, Karen, Aunt Ardeth and Uncle Artie, Aunt Mary Beth and Uncle Peter, and Aunt Judy and Uncle Edd on 25 October 2008. Jacob, Harry, and Sam arrived in their Halloween costumes (mad scientist, Abe Lincoln, and Superman).  The boys helped Aunt Adrienne blow out the candles on her birthday cake. Later that evening, Aunt Adrienne hosted a dinner at a local restaurant for her siblings and spouses and cousins Judy and Edd.  A wonderful time was had by all.  A picture is also included of Adrienne painting skeletons as gifts for the boys.  On Sunday, we all visited Willow Valley for Sunday brunch (picture on steps).

Patte visit in August 2008

Sarah came to visit with Harrison (3) and Oliver (17 months) along with Sarah's parents, Dick and Diane Frohardt.  We had a great visit.

Week at the OuterBanks, NC; August 2008

CLICK ON EACH PICTURE TO ENLARGE.  We again enjoyed a wonderful week with incredible weather at the OuterBanks NC.  This was our third year in the same house (right on the beach).  Pictures below show the boys enjoying the beach and surf.  Gary brought a blowup boat this year that the boys enjoyed.  Ben and Sam (8 months apart) became real friends this summer and often played together.  The boys ate together at their own table., built sandcastles, and went for evening walks with Nana and Bestefar gathering seashells.  Of course, we took the FIVE BOY pictures (always fun---see the one of them standing!)
